Dirceu Mattos Jr completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural sciences from the São Paulo State University and the University of São Paulo, in Brazil, and his doctorate from the University of Florida, USA. He is dedicated to research and innovation for the sustainability of agricultural production with expertise in plant nutrition and stress physiology, soil fertility, fertilizer sources and fertilization efficiency.
As a research scientist at the Agronomic Institute (IAC) in Brazil, he helped establish better nutrient management practices in field orchards to increase the productivity and quality of citrus trees. He acted/works in groups and councils, such as Fapesp, Fundag, Fundecitrus, Int’l Society of Citriculture and Int’l Plant Nutrition Council. As director of the Sylvio Moreira Citrus Research Center (IAC), he has developed academic projects to value ideas. Its objective is also to promote the team’s engagement in a new model of institutional work, giving meaning to Research, Relationships and Innovation.
