Søren Husted’s research deals with the mineral nutrition of plants. He has provided fundamental knowledge to processes involved in acquisition of mineral elements (especially Mn and P) from soil and on the functional role of mineral elements in plant metabolism. Currently, his research group has a strong focus on integrating nanotechnology with plant science to understand how nanoparticles interact with plant tissue at the mechanistic level and how to utilize this knowledge to build the next generation of more efficient fertilizers. Concurrent with these activities, his group has developed a range of new analytical techniques for mass-spectrometry-based analysis and imaging in plant tissue tissue.
